Pondside Home in Chatham, Cape Cod, MA

Pondside, 159 Wilfred Road, Chatham, Massachusetts

Pondside is a quaint and quiet nature-lover’s paradise! Close to town and beaches, this comfortable non-smoking home is situated on more than an acre of woodland between three picturesque kettle ponds. The house sits just fifty feet from one small pond that’s perfect for fishing and kayaking. Next door there’s a larger freshwater pond with a secluded public beach and a sandy bottom that makes it ideal for swimming.

You will enjoy pond views (hence the name!) from the deck, dining room, living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and master bathroom. Bring your bike along (or rent one locally) and take advantage of Pondside’s proximity to the 6-plus mile (10 km) Old Colony Rail Trail leading to Chatham, which connects with the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a 22-mile (35 km) paved rail trail that passes through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, and Wellfleet, as well as 8 miles (13 km) of trails within Nickerson State Park. It also passes near the end of the Nauset Bike Trail, which brings intrepid bikers to all the way Coast Guard Beach, part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Short side trips on public roads also lead to several other national seashore beaches. There are two stunning ocean beaches within two miles of the property. One is at Lighthouse Beach, a 7 mile beach on the Atlantic Ocean, and Hardings Beach, a 3/4 mile beach on Nantucket Sound. There are numerous other ocean beaches in the area, providing visitors with a variety of choices from gentle warm water, to more dramatic beaches with larger waves.

Pondside boasts three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps between two and four people. The open sitting room, dining area, and kitchen create a welcoming common area for meals and quality down time. Enjoy the great outdoors in style with Pondside’s Weber grill, and relish in the singular joy of our outdoor shower. On cool evenings, the fireplace is oh-so-cozy, and hardwood floors make cleaning up after sandy feet a breeze. There’s even a central vacuum system and central air conditioning. The washing machine and dryer are located on the main floor, which means no lugging laundry up and down cellar stairs (or—heaven forbid—to and from the laundromat)! Pondside’s attached garage keeps your car out of the elements, and if you have a roof rack, you're welcome to bring our two kayaks off-site to explore nearby waterways. Our rates include all linens, dishes, and cookwear.

The owners are also proprietors of a nearby business and guest house, and Pondside is their primary residence during the off-season. They are always available to eager guests to assist with anything that may arise during their stay. Many of the guests come back each year, and have come to think of Pondside as their home away from home. Stay with us this summer, and you'll understand why!
